History
A fortress once stood in Ronov nad Doubravou — on the site of today’s brewery apartments. The later fortress building was demolished in 1823. The brewery was one of the old breweries of the imperial era; founded in 1664, its extensive grounds supplied beer to the surroundings.
In 1926 the brewery burned down. In the 1950s the grounds were given to the State Forests, which built a forestry headquarters in the local chateau and technical facilities on the site.
In 2020 the Menzl company bought the brewery building. We slowly began clearing the cellars, full of waste and rubble, and restoring their dignity.
Chronicle of the brewery
- 1664 The brewery in Ronov nad Doubravou is founded — one of the old breweries of the imperial era.
- 1823 The later fortress building is demolished; the estate is managed by the foundation of Count Jan Josef Caretto-Millesimo.
- 1919 The brewery passes into the ownership of the Czechoslovak Republic.
- 1925 The brewery is acquired by the Lorec Municipal Brewery in Kutná Hora.
- 1926 A devastating fire — brewing in Ronov ceases for many years.
- 1950s The grounds are given to the State Forests; a forestry headquarters is set up in the chateau.
- 2020 The Menzl company buys the brewery building; restoration of the buried cellars begins.
- 2026 100 years since the fire — Ronov beer returns: the 12° pale lager.
