Members of the Menzl family were among the brewing-right holders, founders and first shareholders of the Burghers’ Brewery in Pilsen, established in 1842. The family thus stood at the birth of the Pilsner lager tradition.

About us
The Ronov Brewery was one of the old breweries of the Austro-Hungarian era. Its grounds were extensive and supplied beer to the whole surrounding area. The brewery was founded in 1664 and burned down in 1926.
In 2020 the Menzl company bought the brewery building. The cellars, full of rubble and debris, were slowly brought back to order. At the beginning of 2026 we realised that 100 years had passed since the fire — and we decided to commemorate the history of the Ronov Brewery.
That is why, together with our partners, we began preparing a beer with which we would like to grow the beer trade further.

The Menzl family brewing tradition
The Chotěšov branch
Josef Menzl of Chotěšov was a respected brewmaster. His descendants continued as brewmasters, tenants and brewery administrators across Bohemia. The present owner of the Ronov Brewery also comes from this branch.
The Ronov Brewery today
In 2020, the Menzl company bought the Ronov Brewery building and began restoring its historic cellars. Today’s project continues the family brewing tradition and commemorates the history of the site.
